Well, folks, the day has finally come. This is the very last installment of Reading & Jamming's Music Education Vlog Series. Boy, am I gonna miss typing that superfluously long title...
Throughout the last five installments, I've taught all of you (to the best of my ability, of course) about:
1. The staff
2. Notes
3. Rests
4. Counting rhythms
5. Sharps and flats
In this final video, I discuss each of the main brass, woodwind, and percussion instruments typically played by beginning musicians. I describe what those instruments sound like, and where they fit on the Pyramid of Sound.
This final lesson is meant to show you how you can apply your newfound musical knowledge to the real world of music. There is only one way to do that: To begin playing an instrument. Use this video to help you make an informed decision when choosing your instrument of study.
It seems that our time with this vlog series is finally coming to a close. Once again, thank you for sticking with me throughout these six installments. I sincerely hope that you've learned a great deal. I also hope that your musical "career" doesn't end with this vlog series. As we discussed in the very first video, the benefits of a musical education go far beyond the world of concert halls and band rooms. Playing an instrument benefits a person mentally, physically, and emotinally. So go ahead, pick an instrument. Play it for awhile, and reap the benefits.
Once again, thanks for watching!
