It's the greatest thng to happen in the histroy of television: Mr. and Mrs. Darcy are getting featured on the small screen--six years after Jane Austen's original Pride and Prejudice ends! *Uncontrollable fangirling* Death Comes to Pemberley is a BBC television series based on P.D. James's novel of the same name. Here's a quick synopsis: Six years into their mariage, Darcy and Elizabeth are hosting their annual ball when the troublemaking Lydia Bennet rides up to Pemberley in a careening carriage, screaming that murder had been commited in the woodlands behind the Darcys' estate. Iconic Austen-like chaos insues. P.D. James's novel--the original source material for the show, as aforementioned--attempts to answer the question, "Where are they now?" I've also heard that characters from Austen's Persuasion and Emma appear in the novel, solidifying Austenites' long-time suspicion that all of Jane's works exist within the same literary world. *More uncontrollable fangirling* As for the cast, Matthew Rhys plays Mr. Darcy, Anna Maxwell Martin plays Elizabeth, Matthew Goode plays Wickham, and Jenna Coleman plays Lydia Bennet (there are more actors and characters, of course). The show has already premiered in the UK, but it is said to be coming to American televisions sometime towards the end of this year, possibly in November. I'll post updates when I receive them! In the meantime, remember this: No fandom does it better than the Austen fandom.
