Marvel's newest creation, Guardians of the Galaxy, has me hooked on a feelin' and high on believin' that its soundtrack is the greatest I've seen in years. When creating a soundtrack, most movies will include instrumental songs that were used in the film (i.e. Inception, The Dark Knight, etc.) or songs performed by famous artists that were created especially for the movie. (i.e. The Hunger Games, Oblivion, etc.) The geniuses over at Marvel, however, did something different and quite extraordinary for Chris Pratt's blockbuster Star Wars-esque film Guardians of the Galaxy. They created two soundtracks--one, entitled "Guardians of the Galaxy," included the instrumental tracks we all expected. The second, entitled "Awesome Mix Vol. 1" featured twelve classic rock n' roll staples from various artists. The soundtrack is the same mix tape that Chris Pratt's character Peter Quill listened to throughout the film, hence the title "Awesome Mix Vol. 1." This is the greatest soundtrack from any Marvel movie to date, and possibly from any movie ever. I am SO glad that Marvel showed the world what real music is. Nowadays, popular music is half-rap, half-pop, autotuned nothingness that people continue to sing along to. This soundtrack is a conglomerate consisting of some of the greatest hit songs performed in decades, music that is worth listening to. So props to Marvel and the creators of Guardians of the Galaxy--"Awesome Mix Vol. 1" is a home run! The aoundtrack's songs are listed below:
."Hooked on a Feeling," Blue Swede
."Go All the Way," Raspberries
."Spirit in the Sky," Norman Greenbaum (not featured in film)
."Moonage Daydream," David Bowie
."Fooled Around and Fell in Love," Elvin Bishop
."I'm Not in Love," 10cc
."I Want You Back," The Jackson 5
."Come and Get Your Love," Redbone
."Cherry Bomb," The Runaways
."Escape (The Piña Colada Song)," Rupert Holmes
."O-o-h Child," The Five Stairsteps
."Ain't No Mountain High Enough," Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell
