It is a truth univerally acknowledged that Pride and Prejudice is one of the greatest works of literature ever conceived. Jane Austen's most famous novel has been adapted into several films and other on-screen video variations, the best of which is The Lizzie Bennet Diaries. The LBD is a series of one hundred YouTube videos in which heroin Lizzie Bennet (Ashley Clements) describes her wacky, mixed-up, drama-filled life as a grad student living at home with her mother and two sisters. This modern adaptation of Pride and Prejudice is absolutely brilliant. Ashley Clements PERFECTLY depicts a modern-day Elizabeth Bennet--she's sarcastic, loyal, and delights in everything ridiculous. All of the characters, in fact, are flawless variations of their original Jane Austen selves. The storyline is brilliantly written and portrayed--the subplot with Lydia is especially riviting (and heartbreaking. Bring tissues!) And Darcy...well, Pride and Prejudice fans fell in love with him all over again. The LBD does justice to a book that has captived readers for over two centuries. So curl up with a cup of tea and a cozy blanket and binge-watch The Lizzie Bennet Diaries!
